Dear Searcher for a Church Home,
Oak Grove Mennonite Church is a 150 year old congregation, but don't let that discourage you! We realized about ten years ago that unless we made an effort to become relevant to the needs of our youth and contemporary people we would continue a decline we had been on for a number of years. So we decided to live. We decided to reverse the decline. We decided to try new things. It hasn't been easy, but it seems to be working. Instead of declining, we are thriving.
We have struggled hard to find a mix between the great traditional aspects of the faith, which our esteemed older persons have valued, and the ever changing contemporary expressions of the faith that our greatly valued youth and the contemporary ones around us desire. Although the struggle to find just the right mix never ceases, we feel we have crafted an exciting and relevant place to worship. Our attendance continually pushes against our capacity, and we struggle with defining the next step as more and more people find Oak Grove an exciting church home.
We worship in a sanctuary which we built (too small, unfortunately) in 1992. We have modern clean rest rooms and nursery facilities and carpeted, recently remodeled Christian education space. We offer an exciting range of children's activities including Sunday evening activities for children from ages three and up including Cubbie Bears, Bible Memory, Junior High Fellowship and Mennonite Youth Fellowship.
Oak Grove is an exciting place to be. We would welcome you to come and experience a Sunday morning worship service with us soon. We worship at 9:30 and offer Sunday School to all ages at 10:45. We'll be waiting for you.
