The Sunday school program is currently operating differently due to Covid-19. Adult and the High School SS classes meet either outdoors after church or during the week, as arranged independently by their classes. The Primary and Junior Intermediate Departments are currently not meeting formally.
About the Primary Department:
- A staffed nursery is provided, in addition to classes for everyone, 2 years of age and above. You are welcome to attend anytime, even if you are a visitor. A variety of class styles and topics are offered.
- The primary department includes classes for ages 2 and 3, Preschool and Kindergarten, Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-4. Children participate in a group singing time before going to their individual classes.
- For the primary department classes, we use the Gather Round curriculum from Faith and Life Press. It covers important Biblical content over a four year cycle.
- Children are invited to bring offering money for various offering projects, such as medicine for Haiti or food for the West Liberty Cares pantry. Each year, a Christmas musical is also performed by the children up through 8th grade.
About the Junior Intermediate Department:
The Jr. Int. Department is for children in grades 5-8. We meet together for a time of singing and prayer. We divide up into 2 classes (grades 5 &6 and grades 7&8) for our Bible lesson. We grow in our faith skills of praying for others and learning what the Bible teaches and applying it to our everyday lives. We use the David C. Cook curriculum. In a 2 year cycle we study a complete overview of the entire Bible.
About the High School Department:
The high school Sunday school class is for all students from Freshman through Seniors. The class format is varied depending on the topic, but can include sermon discussion, videos, Bible study, church history, or group discussion of other topics that are of interest to the youth.
About the Adult Department:
Our adult Sunday school classes are for post high school through our most experienced adults! Varied classes offer fellowship, teaching and discussion for all adults. Grab a coffee or tea and join the class from the following list that seems to best fit what you are seeking.
Visitors are always welcome!
The following are some classes that you may choose to join on any Sunday.
Truthseekers Class – The Truthseekers Class welcomes you to join us! We are a fun loving group of Christian brothers and sisters guiding each other along the path from parenthood through empty nesting. We are currently spending our class time digging deeper into the message given by the Pastor each Sunday morning, but we have been known to use books for Bible study or even just break down a book of the Bible on our own. Come visit us anytime in the first room next to the Fellowship hall upstairs.
Pathfinders Class – Most of our attenders are 50 and older (but we welcome all ages). Currently we are discussing the sermon and how it affects our lives. We meet in the fellowship hall by the kitchen.
Sojourners/Living Stones Class – Our class has a wider range in ages and a wonderful variety in perspectives. Todd Buschur is our teacher and we follow the lessons found in the seasonal Adult Bible Studies published by MennoMedia. We also occasionally include discussion on some of the questions as follow up to the sermon of the day.
We have an ongoing card and care ministry, provide meals for various persons in need and send packages to ur college students and those in military service. We have great times to fellowships whether it be around our tables on Sunday morning or at a variety of planned functions and/or celebrations. We welcome new persons to join our group at any time. Our meeting place is in the northeast corner of the fellowship room.
